Supreme Court t hear the review petition filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan. the whole nation is waiting for the final decision of the Apex Court, as the Prime Minister is liable himself for contempt proceedings against him which may lead to disqualification. he may be de-seated by the Election Commission of Pakistan if he were to find guilty of Contempt.

 Pakistan soon after the political turmoil in terms of a vote of no confidence against the then Prime Minister Imran Khan, faced acute political and economic instability, which in turned ruined the general public with inflation. The poor could hardly be able to buy for their belly. Additionally, the middle class is also striving hard to make ends meet. International Organisations like IMF and World Bank also lose confidence in the current Government, however, a question here triggers. The PTI chairman and the then Prime Minister put serious allegation that he has been ousted by foreign conspiracy, augmented by the superpower in the USA, if his claim is assumed to be true, then why US abundant the current government, still speculations triggers that mere minus Imran was not the aim of super powers rather they wants more than that OR they have no nothing to do with Pakistan or Pakistani Government. A theory is also present that the international powers are at the helm to take revenge on Pakistan for its failure in Afghanistan. Whatever the scenario is but Pakistan is leading toward dilapidation.  Anchors opined in Pakistan  that the visit of the then Prime Minister to Russia could have averted the political situation in Pakistan

 Soon after the verdict of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission issued the schedule of Elections though the ruling parties reserved concern and vows to raise their voice on every Forum. Despite the fact that there is no 2nd option available in the Constitution but to comply with the decision of the Supreme Court. Additionally, the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan ostensibly reflects that after the dissolution of the Assembly (Federal / Provincial)  caretaker Govt shall be formed in consultation with the opposition party and the caretaker Govt shall hold the election within 90 days. 

The Federal Government of Pakistan is of the view that the economic situation of the country is not allowing them to spend a huge budget on Election, but their stance was rejected by the Supreme Court of Pakistan; which directed the Govt to arrange funds immediately, hold Elections as there is no provision in the Constitution to extend the term of caretaker Government. To the question of Security, the Court directed all the law enforcement agencies to assist the Election Commission of Pakistan in holding the Elections.  

Why was the ex-PM detained?

The PTI chief and former Prime Minister was arrested by the NAB with the help of a ranger when he was busy in marking his attendance via biometric in case. He was arrested in a case pending before National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Pakistan tile "Al-Qadir Trust". The NAB arrested him while he was marking his attendance.

The Chief Justice while hearing the parties, after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan,  declared the arrest as legal.

The reaction of PTI Workers / Leaders 

Soon after the arrest of Imran Khan,, the PTI workers and leaders started protests across the country, and the strikes and attacks on different Govt buildings continue for two days. 


Many a building and govt entities are put on fire by the workers. 

What happened Next?



The Prime Mininster Shahbaz Sharif ordered to treat the protesters with iron hand, as according to DAWN news 9 protesters were killed during clash between police and mob, according Daily Mashriq dated 11-05-2023, almost 11 people died during the clash between police and workers. 

Arrest Toll? 

According to sources almost 1900 workers / leaders were arrested amongst which 52 were sent to Adyala Jail.
